OpenPict Lite is a bare bones PICT opener that fully supports drag-n-drop. I wrote it primarly for people using NewsWatcher, Mosaic or other programs that can aquire but not display PICT files. Since it was written over only a few days OpenPict Lite can only open one PICT at a time and cannot open something bigger than its memory allocation. This program is freeware so enjoy.
Notes:
For all you Powerbook users OpenPict Lite loads the entire images it's displaying into RAM so you can spin down the hard-drive in peace.
Any PICT type file is supported by OpenPict Lite. At this date the PICT format includes PICT 1 (B&W), PICT 2 (Color), JPEG (requires Quicktime 1.6.1), and video compressed (QuickTime 1.0). I've managed to open some GIF format PICT's but I can't give any promises.
Tech Notes:
This program was written with THINK Pascal 4.0.1 and compiled for all Macs. Though the code is 68k the actual work is done by the toolbox for opening the PICT so a PowerMac shouldn't feel much drag. Finally if you really want source code I can send you a copy thought it isn't very advanced or well commented.
